In his debut year at UCI WorldTour level, Barta showed his time trialing skills and promise at the Tour de Romandie by finish eighth on the stage five time trial before ending his season at the finish line of his first Grand Tour, the Vuelta a España.

Before joining CCC Team, Barta secured a series of solid top ten results including third overall on the General Classification at Le Triptyque des Monts et Chateaux. A standout performance came in 2017 when Barta finished fourth at the U23 Liège-Bastogne-Liège. In the same year, he also finished fourth at the US National Time Trial Championships.

I knew I wanted to be a professional cyclist when…

I think I knew I wanted to be a professional cyclist as soon as I started riding at around 11 or 12 years old. There was just something about it, the riding, the racing and the travel opportunities that it would provide, which interested me from a young age.

My greatest racing memory is…

Finishing 8th at the Tour de Bretagne in 2015 was an important race for me. It was always a big race in the U23 calendar and I was just 19 that year so it was great to feel like I had delivered over the course of the whole seven-day race was great. It was something that I wasn’t sure I could do at that point so it was nice to prove to myself that I could.

The race I dream of winning is…

Liège-Bastogne-Liège

If I wasn’t a professional cyclist, I would be…

As well as cycling, I’m slowly studying Econmics at university so if I wasn’t racing just now, and, when this adventure is over, it would probably be something to do with that.
