Sports Director Valerio Piva said that while Trentin will be the team’s protected rider, everyone will be able to look for opportunities in the early stages of the race.
“Obviously we’ve had to make a change to our roster for Brabantse Pijl but heading into the race Matteo will now be our main leader, he is in strong form and I think the parcours is one that suits him. We will also have Simon Geschke and Alessandro De Marchi, as well as Georg Zimmermann, coming out of the Ardennes Classics where they raced well so I think we can continue to ride aggressively, and together with Matteo, I think they can try to do something in the final. We have Gijs Van Hoecke, Nathan Van Hooydonck, and Guillaume Van Keirsbulck joining us for this race and they, of course, know the roads so, if possible, we will look to give chances to everyone in the earlier part of the race while also keeping Matteo safe to try to help him bring home the best result possible,” Piva explained.
Trentin is happy with his form heading into Brabantse Pijl.
“I took some time off after the Tour de France and then, once I restarted training, my numbers were quite good so I think I have recovered well and I am ready to go again. There’s only a handful of races left before the end of the season and I really want to make the most of them especially after the Tour because I felt like my form was pretty good there. Brabantse Pijl is a race I have never done before but it’s a parcours that I think I can be competitive on. I can’t wait to race again and hopefully, I can be up there fighting for the victory,” Trentin said.
